USYS Publications Provided to Coaches
LYSA distributes practical, informative publications from US Youth Soccer (USYS) to all coaches. The exact publications provided vary by the age group you are coaching, but every coach will be given two USYS publications at the preseason coaches' meeting. Here's a description of the materials provided:
U6 - U8

- Assistant Coach Series - U6&U8 Activity Aids
U9 - U10

U12 and above
- Coaching the U12 Player

The Youth Soccer Parent/Coach Primer and Coaching the U12 Player have concise discussions of important topics, including players' physical and mental development, the role of the coach, technical development, tactics, injuries, equipment and team management. Every coach should read these pamphlets as soon as possible. The Assistant Coach Series books lay out practice sessions with activities and related coaching points. They are your road maps to successful practices where the players have fun while learning new skills. Have a great season!
Video Tapes
Soccer training tapes are available for rental at Video Den in the Virginia Village Shopping Center in Leesburg (off Catoctin Circle, just east of south King Street.) Look for the tapes in the "Sports" section of the store. Rental is $1.99 for four days.
