Summary of the Loudoun Soccer U11/U12 Recreational Program
Rather than have large teams that play 11 v 11 on full size fields, the small-sided game concept continues with the U11/U12 age groups and teams play 8 v 8 on small fields. USYS has strongly recommended this format and Loudoun Soccer has used it for U11 since the Fall of 2003.

The U11/U12 format is very similar to U9/U10 except that the games are 8 v 8 and the games are played in halves rather than quarters (with free substitution allowed). Loudoun Soccer U11 & U12 teams play on slightly larger fields than U9/U10 teams (50 x 80 yards) that have all the same markings as full size fields. Goalkeepers must be changed at each half, and goalkeepers must receive a substantial amount of playing time in the half that they are not in goal
